Memorial Day Weekend

So this weekend, we got to go to Salisbury, North Carolina to see the Addisons, who were up for a wedding. On our trip over, we decided to go shopping in High Point. High Point is the furniture capital of the world and it was amazing to see so many stores. As we were looking around, I saw this beautiful bedroom set, and thought that I needed to have it. So I did buy it. This is the floor model, and mine will be shipped within the next couple of weeks. I am so excited about it.

We then went on to Thomasville, NC to see the biggest chair. We were driving into town and I made the comment, "I wonder were it is?" And looked up and there it was.

On Saturday evening, I got to spend time with some great friends, Talena and Talisha. These were my first friends when we moved to Florida. This was also a make up visit, because when I drove across the country and stopped in Idaho, I was the town next to Talisha's and will never live it down that I did not call.

As we sat down for dessert, out waiter came over to take our order. It was a guy that was in my high school class back in Florida. We all had a good laugh for the chance of us going to the restaurant that he works at and having him for a waiter.

There is still more to the holiday weekend, but I plan on sleeping, sleeping and more sleeping before the next work week starts.

March of Babies

On Saturday, they had the March of Babies walk in Fayetteville. Since my companies main office is in Fayetteville, my boss that it would be great for us to walk as a team.

This is after the halfway point, hence the reason you see people walking both directions. It was a really nice morning to walk, it did get warm, but there was a cool breeze.

As you can see, this is me walking across the finish. They were having trouble with the balloons staying up, so you had to lift them as you walked under. Mom and I were the first in my group to walk across the finish. They were taking to long and walking very slowly, so we went on ahead.

After the walk, we decided to spend sometime in Fayetteville doing some shopping. I was to get toys from Toys R Us, because my boss wanted my toy supply stocked up. So that was great fun in the toy store. We also went and bought a lawnmower. As I was checking out, this old man had the audacity to ask if I was really going to be using the lawnmower. I could not believe it, then this old lady behind him defended me, which I really appreciated.

Grass

As you can see, my grass is beginning to grow. Some is from the old grass that is coming back up and spreading and there is some new little growth. There was previously lots of weeds, but my neighbor decided to come and mow the lawn for me today. This is the same guy that put down the seed and did a bad job. I do believe someone has a guilty conscious.

As you can see, not all the grass is up yet. I am learning to be very patient. If you look really closely (not in the picture) you can see very, very small leaves of grass. Hopefully by the end of summer, it might be all filled in.

Stepping Back in Time

Okay, so this picture was supposed to be at the bottom, but I can't get it to move it down. These are the most delicious strawberries that we have had since moving here. It is great that we are able to already enjoy strawberries. They make us remember being back home in Canada. We ate them the whole way home from Cameron. In a few weeks, making strawberry jam will definitely be on the list of things to get done.
First thing in the morning we had a garage sale at a friends house. We were going to start at 8:00 and end at 11:00. People were already showing up at 7:00 to start shopping. Needless to say, we took 3 cars full over to her house and only came back with three boxes. Those boxes got donated to the Goodwill. We then decided to go to Cameron, NC to an antique show that was happening. Cameron is a very old town with lots of old buildings and here are some of them.

This house was build in the mid 1800's and it is now up for sale. The sale sheet out front said that it had 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and 9 fireplaces. Does that sound grand or what. Plus the previous owners had updated a lot of the inside with modern conveniences.

This was a crib that we saw at the antique show. We saw lots of beautiful furniture, but this was the most ornate crib we have ever seen.

After the antique show, we headed out looking for the strawberry patches. We were told that they were somewhere between Sanford and Carthage. And then we found Franks' Berry Patch. They looked beautiful and let me tell you they tasted wonderful. We will definitely be heading back numerous times.
