A Birthday Weekend (Not Mine)

This past weekend, Mom and I went up to Virginia to celebrate Christy's 4th birthday and Andrew's 30th birthday.
This is from the game that Andrew, Josh and I went too. Liberty University Women's basketball team did very well. The finally score was extremely lopsided.

Josh and Christy really love having Mikki around. Every night, they liked to make sure that they gave her a hug good night.

Lauren was really having fun with the tiara that Lisa made for her. Two seconds later, the ribbons were in her mouth.
The weekend prior, we spent sometime hanging pictures up in the house. Here are more from the previous post. This is mom's room, which Mikki was enjoying at that moment.
We had some cold weather here, so we made sure to have Mikki's shirt on when she went out.
Below are photos that I took while driving across the country. They now grace the one wall in the living room.
On saturday night, we went to hear the Mark Trammell Trio. I was hoping that they would sing my favorite song before we left, but they did not. So here is a clip of one of the other songs that I like.

The NC Snow Storm

I had to laugh today. After going to see a movie, we left the theater to find the streets deserted and the parking lots almost empty. The reason?? This terrible snow storm that was taking place. Since you cannot hear me, please note the sarcasm about the storm. The snow was falling, but not bad and barely coating the ground. There has to be less then an inch of snow, which I think is done by now. These poor folks are in a panic about the terrible storm. If they only new what a snow storm really looks like.

I had my second job interview yesterday and I think that it went pretty well. I now have to wait and see what decision that they make. The boss stated that she may not make one for two or three weeks, so I have to work on the patience issues. I better get going and check to see if they are still having church tomorrow, they cancel stuff around here very quickly.

A Very Busy Saturday

The dining room has a cross-stitch the my Aunt Mary Ellen had made and a clock that my Grandpa Fehrman had made. On the other wall is going to be some antique plates, but they have not been found in the boxes yet.
The photos that are in the living room are paintings of two beautiful places in Ontario. The one on the left is of the Church at Point Abino and the other is of the Lighthouse. I always loved these paintings.

When you enter the front door, you will be greeted with these amazing pictures that I took at Niagara Falls. I have to show these southerners the amazing beauty of the falls. The big picture is of the Canadian flag, with the American falls in the background. To get this photo, I had to lean over the the back of the Maid of the Mist boat.
There is still more pictures to go up in the office, the library, hallway and the bedrooms. On the one wall, there will be a collage of photos that I took while going across the country, they are really beautiful.

North Carolina Snow

Okay, so this morning, this is the snow that we woke up too. When the alarm first went off, the news was talking about all the closings and how horrible the weather is. So I looked outside and was expecting to see a couple of feet. Outside, the ground was barely dusted with snow. Half of the state of North Carolina was either closed or under a two hour delay. When I went into work, they were talking about how horrible the snow was. I just laughed. If they want to see some snow, they need to go up to the great lakes.
This photo was taken on the way to work, at least once the sun came up.

Here is another crazy thing that happened. The other day I noticed that there was feathers all over the floor. I had just vacuumed the floor, but there was more down there. So I cleaned them up and went on my way. A little while late, I noticed that there was more feathers on the carpet. I was a little irritated because I did not know where they were coming from. I looked down and there was a trail coming from behind me. My wonderful and comfortable slippers from Restoration Hardware were leaking feathers everywhere. On a side note, when there is a hole in your slipper and feathers coming out, don't squeeze the slipper!! Because what will happen is that more feathers fly everywhere. So at 8:00 at night, I head out to Wal-Mart to get a new pair of slippers. Here is the bad part. Their women slippers come in odd sizes, like 9 1/2 to 10 1/2. Just so everyone knows, a person who can wear 10 1/2 cannot fit there foot into one that fits a 9 1/2. Not one slipper fit my feet. So what was my choice, men's. what was worse is that the smallest men's slipper did not fit and I had to go up more sizes. Where did the curse of big feet come from??? At least we know that God can give us a good laugh at ourselves sometimes.

First Week of Work

First thing this morning, after I took a shower, this is what I came back into my bedroom to find. Mikki was sitting up and watching television. I know she probably does not know what she is even watching or listening too, but it looked so cute. She was watching Little House on the Prairie by the way.

Also this morning, I went to this little restaurant for brunch. Uncle Kevin has taught me to find the little family owned dive's where they have the best food and for good prices. Well, Uncle Kevin, you would be proud of me. About 2 minutes from my house is this cute little dive. They are only open for breakfast and lunch, and their signs say "Bottomless cup of coffee." I ate the most delicious breakfast this morning, so full that it is nearing dinner time and I am still not hungry. What was even better was the price, very cheap, but very good.

I started my new job this week, and I wish that I could write that it was a wonderful week. The reason I can't is because it was not a good one. The job that I interviewed for and the one that I thought I was getting, is not the job that I have been give. In fact, completely the opposite. They have me driving 45 minutes away and seeing kids in 4 different buildings and going three days a week to a skilled nursing center. Which I do not like to do. And on the other two days I have to drive 30 minutes the opposite direction to see kids in 4 more buildings. I am not happy. In fact, I have already submitted my resume to another company. I know that I should wait it out, but I already went and talked to the head of rehab and she actually laughed at me when I said that this is not what I interviewed for. So, let's pray that this other job will pan out, they already called for the interview, but I was not at home to get the call, so I pray this one works out.
